Children's Dentistry in Hampton Park
We're proud to be your trusted family dentist at Hampton Park Dental. We welcome the entire family, including children of all ages!
It is recommended to bring your kids in from one year of age so we can have a look at their baby teeth and spot any issues early on. We make it fun for little ones and offer a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We also provide comprehensive oral care advice and tips on keeping your child's teeth healthy and strong.
Why Is Children's Dentistry So Important?
Building early relationships with children is one of the best ways in which we can set them up for success in the future. Feeling safe, comfortable, and even excited about visiting their dentist sets them up for a lifetime of healthy and happy smiles.
Sometimes, we're asked why baby teeth are so important when they're going to fall out anyway. Great question! Primary (baby) teeth have several important and exciting jobs that make them integral to your little one's early oral development.
- Guiding incoming adult teeth and holding space for them
- Introducing your little one to their first solid foods
- Helping your baby form their first words
When your child loses their baby teeth too soon, it can impact their future smile development. Let us help you care for and protect their precious smile!
What Happens During the First Dental Visit?
When your baby first visits our dental clinic, we'll spend time helping them acclimate to our environment with rides in the dental chair and counting their teeth so they get used to exams.
We won't incorporate teeth cleans until they are older and more comfortable in the dental chair; however, your child should continue to visit their children's dentist in Hampton Park every six months for checks.

Some of the comprehensive dental services we offer for children are:
- Routine Check-Ups: Children will get age-appropriate dental care that may include exams, teeth cleans, x-rays when appropriate, fluoride, and patient education for parents and children.
- Dental Sealants and Fluoride Treatment: Sealants help protect small teeth from decay and cavities with a thin layer of plastic coating covering their molars' chewing surface. Fluoride helps build and strengthen small teeth while also defending against cavities.
- Tooth-Coloured Restorations: Tooth-coloured fillings and crowns repair damaged or decayed baby teeth to keep them healthy until adult teeth arrive.
- Protective Mouth Guards: If your child participates in sports, a protective mouth guard will prevent injury without interfering with their sport.
- Orthodontic Consultation: We'll begin evaluating your little one for orthodontic treatment (braces) around age seven, as some children can benefit from early intervention.
Is it time for your little one's first or next dental appointment? We would love to meet them!
