Thinking about brightening your smile? There are some things to know if you're considering professional teeth whitening and have current restorations, such as crowns, veneers, or composite veneers.

Unfortunately, dental restorations like crowns and veneers cannot be whitened. If you already have those restorations, whitening your teeth could be tricky since the shade of the restorations can't be changed. If that's the case for you, your dentist will make recommendations on the best ways to brighten your smile.

If you're considering restorations and haven't completed them yet, your dentist may suggest whitening your teeth to the shade you want before finishing them and then matching your new restorations to your brighter smile.

At Hampton Park Dental, we offer two convenient options for brightening your smile, either with in-chair teeth whitening at our Hampton Park dental clinic, or by using our take-home teeth whitening system. Here's how they work.

In-Chair Teeth Whitening in Hampton Park, VIC

During an in-chair whitening procedure, we apply a high-strength whitening gel to your teeth after applying a protective barrier around your gums. We may do this multiple times, depending on what you need. Most people achieve their desired results after 60 to 90 minutes of whitening, and many patients leave our clinic noticing visible improvement..

For patients who prefer a more immediate result, for example, ahead of a wedding or vacation, in-chair whitening may offer convenience, subject to clinical suitability.

How Take-Home Teeth Whitening Works

With our take-home bleaching system, we take impressions of your teeth and make custom plastic trays. You'll apply the whitening gel at home and wear it for 30 minutes for about 10 to 14 days, or until you've achieved your desired results.

You can always buy additional tubes of bleaching gel from Hampton Park Dental when you want to brighten your smile in the future.

We invite your call to our dental clinic if you have questions about professional teeth whitening. Please note that individual outcomes depend on factors such as existing restorations, lifestyle, oral hygiene and individual response.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
