If you haven't been to the dentist in years, the hardest part is often making the booking. You may worry about what the dentist will find, what they will say or what it will cost. Here is what to expect and how to keep the cost down.
What Will the Dentist Say After Years Without a Check-Up?
You Won't Be Judged
Our dentists often see patients after a long gap. Work, family, cost and nerves can all get in the way. We focus on your mouth today, not how long it's been.
What Happens at the Appointment
Your visit starts with a chat about your health history and any concerns. The dentist then checks your teeth, gums and mouth and may take x-rays if needed. A clean usually follows.
After a long gap, the clean may take more than one visit. You can read more about what a dental check-up includes on healthdirect.
What You'll Hear About Next Steps
The dentist explains what they found, what is urgent and what can wait. They also review costs before booking anything. No treatment goes ahead without your consent, and we can prioritise treatment to suit your budget.
How Do I Get Back on Track Without the Stress or a Big Bill?
Gap-Free Check-Ups and Cleans for Eligible Patients
Hampton Park Dental offers a gap-free check-up in Hampton Park for eligible patients with cover through any private health fund. This includes a comprehensive check-up and clean.
We are preferred providers for Medibank, Bupa, CBHS, HCF, NIB and Smile. With HICAPS, we process your claim on the spot. Eligibility depends on your fund, your level of cover and your remaining annual limits.
If you are ready to book, we invite you to contact our team. We can talk you through eligibility when you call.
Other Ways to Manage the Cost
Eligible children may be covered under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Payment plans through Humm, Afterpay and TLC are available. For larger treatment plans, SuperCare may also help eligible patients apply for early access to their superannuation.
If You're Feeling Nervous
Let our team know when you book. Nitrous oxide and general anaesthetic are available when clinically appropriate. Evening and Saturday appointments can also make it easier to find a time that suits you.
If you're ready to book, we're here to help. Call our Hampton Park dental clinic, and we will be happy to help you.
